So what makes the TonalEnergy the best selling music practice app?
• It’s an all-in-one app, with a state-of-the-art tuner, an advanced metronome, dedicated orchestral strings and guitar tuning page, a piano keyboard, sound analysis pages, and audio/visual recording capabilities.
• It’s easy to use. Options like the Target Tuner or Pitch Tracker are on all the main pages. TonalEnergy helps users create rewarding and attainable goals during a rehearsal or when working alone. Colorful analysis data pages and audio/video recording features enhance the experience of practice.
• The metronome is cutting edge. It offers unmatched flexibility in sound choices, tempo settings, meters, subdivision patterns and visual displays. Voice count-ins, the ability to create and edit preset groups and Ableton link for syncing multiple devices make this a superior tool for performers.
• Ear training possibilities are endless. The high quality multi-sampled instrument sounds for symphonic instruments are unique among all other tuning applications. Listening skills can be developed through the use of the eight-octave keyboard, chromatic wheel and tone generator. There are no other sounds like these.
• Learning is a social activity. Using features unique to the TonalEnergy Tuner, data can be collected, reviewed, edited and shared with others. Feedback is essential for growing and developing great performers. It’s all about connectivity.
Chris Coletti, member of The Canadian Brass, sums up TonalEnergy by saying,

AudioBugsHate itLove itUpdatesI love this app and use it every practice session, as it has many awesome features that I’ve yet to see elsewhere, including recording analysis, random beat silencing in the metronome, and many options for sound of metronome or drone. However, I find myself frustrated that this app gets buggier each time Apple puts out a new update. My running tally is as follows: - only uses one of my phone’s main speakers for audio, making any drone or met functions useless on my phone without a Bluetooth device. - if I use the pitch tab to set a drone and then move to the analysis tab, all my drones stop playing when I move to any other tab, forcing me to either set up all my drones again or to simply just not use this function in conjunction with drones. - Every time I open the app, I have to swipe down to my phone settings screen for it to register and use my connected Bluetooth device. Very frustrating in conjunction with the first point. - completely crashes if I get a phone call while recording audio. None of these issues are deal breakers for me, but they cause me frustration every day, and I would like if updates were more focused on fixing these issues that impact ease of use and functionality over giving us practice streaks and emojis on our tuners.

BugsFeature RequestsUpdatesI use this app every day. I especially like the metronome features. I program in the meters and measures of my Brass Band music at tempo then I can play through each piece without stopping to check my tempo through the changes. The app allows you to put in rits. and every other variation of tempo needed in performance. I also use the drones for long tone practices. If during a rehearsal there is a questionable interval, I just write down what pitch the other guys got and when I get home I work with the tuner/drone just to make sure that my parts where it needs to be.I haven’t started to dive into the practice log yet. So except for the practice log I use every other feature that I know this app is capable of every day. I personally find it to be a very robust and flexible program. The updates are always current. I’ve never had any response problems with it. I couldn’t even imagine not having this app. As an older person it is a tool I really wish I could’ve had when I was starting out.

AudioFeature RequestsLevelTE tuner is a one stop shop for all practicing needs. It’s got a great and versatile metronome, with a wide selection of metronome sounds, and can provide drones for tuning in any number of timbres and even helps you tune in different temperaments and pitch standards. The tuner is very customizable. It allows you to select how picky the tuner’s range of what it accepts as “in tune” is. I can set it to ultra fine (which only allows one hundredth of a half step on either side of the note as wiggle room) for tuning my strings, then switch to just “fine” if I need to cut myself some slack while practicing scales and intervals. The tuner also has different modes for strings, winds and voice. I don’t know exactly how the modes differ on a technical level, but I’ve found them to work as intended. The user interface is elegantly designed and lays all of this app’s many features out in an intuitively navigable way. This app has become a really helpful resource in my daily practice, and I can’t recommend it enough to musicians at any level.
