i decided to try this game because i really enjoy playing project sekai/ hatsune miku: colorful stage and i wanted to try games under the same category, and i was aware of all the people calling it a project sekai ripoff, which it kinda is.. in my opinion, its wayyy to similar to project sekai in order for me to enjoy the game as something different. a lot of things in the game are basically the same as project sekai but some things are different but it’s basically a great value project sekai to me. the only thing i do like is the characters are pretty cool- lol. but other than that i don’t really enjoy the game and definitely prefer project sekai. and it also has less tap detection than project sekai and with the background with your five members i couldn’t see the notes very well, but maybe that’s just me- i don’t really know— it’s an alright game but i’m decided to delete it after playing it for a few hours. the only thing i’ll miss is my beloved Rinko. she’s just a precious character. the only thing i really like about this game is the characters, like the personalities and their character design, other than that i’m just gonna delete the game. i would recommend project sekai more than this but to people who wanna get into rhythm games it’s an ok game. eh i guess like a 5/10 3☆ thanks for reading ( ◠‿◠ )

BanG Dream is probably one of the greatest anime-style rhythm games. I’m a big fan of Bushiroad’s style of rhythm games, and this is my favorite one right next to Love Live School Idol Festival. I especially love the feature of cover songs from anime, vocaloid, and popular Japanese pop songs, as well as the ability to personalize the stage UI through achievements and other settings (something that I can’t find anywhere else, to be honest!) My only “ick” about this game is that it does not give much gacha options for free-to-play players. I’m not much of a big fan of games where the event banners make a difference between “paid currency” and “free currency.” Most of the banners in this game can ONLY be used with paid stars, which is outrageous. During their end-of-year banners, I counted that about 2 out of the 6 banners available could only be used with free stars; the others could only be played with paid stars (and this was counting the permanent banner that uses gacha tickets). Don’t get me wrong - I am not against paid-stars-only banners. I am simply upset that there are more PSO banners available at once than regular banners that use free stars. For this reason only, I am giving it a 4/5 stars.

This game is magical. I’m a huge fan of rhythm games and am constantly amazed by how polished and well-made BangDream is. The beat maps flow so well and the characters and storylines are wholesome fun. The craziest thing to me is that the gacha element is implemented surprisingly well! When I saw that there was a gacha element and microtransactions, I remember groaning, thinking it would be constantly in my face while I use the app. (I had never had good experiences with similar sorts of games). However, the game NEVER pushes the microtransactions and they are COMPLETELY unnecessary to play and progress through the game. It is also, in my opinion, very generous and gives you more than enough credits to play the gacha. I even find myself excited to play the gacha because I feel like I earned it by getting full combos on songs. Eventually I even spent some actual money on the app ($10) because I felt guilty that I was having so much fun without paying for anything. But that is all I’ve ever paid after 2 years. Last year, I convinced my partner to start playing and now she is just as into it as me. She even bought us matching BangDream pajamas. Also, Kokoro is best girl and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. xoxo
