The Reading Eggs Learn to Read app features hundreds of fun math & literacy lessons, activities, games, puzzles, and over 3000 e-books for homeschooling Eggsplorers to enjoy!
The app instructs homeschoolers on the five essential components of reading – phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
The Reading Eggs homeschool curriculum guide covers grades K-5. It also includes Science which is closely linked to the standards set out by the National Science Teaching Association, and Social Studies.

I initially reviewed this about the inability to turn the in app sounds off and the idiotic nag message trying to make me unmute my phone for the best experience. The sounds serve zero purpose for parents other than to annoy the user. A year later and they are still there. They also hammer you with spam marketing emails, and turning that option off in the app does not stop them. The service is ok in that it helped my kids, but user experience is junk.

Maybe this style works for a particular kind of kid but it is so repetitive and monotonous that my kid was turned off immediately. And if you try to skip lessons because they're too easy, your kid is going to encounter tasks that refer to stories or things they "read before" that can turn frustrating and disappointing. Try this if you're starting at 0 but not if your kid has some reading knowledge already. UPD: Yes, we did the placement test. Over 30 minutes into the test, my 5yo lost interest.

My two year old enjoyed playing the games on the app. For the games where he had to pick the correct letter or number he would purposely choose the wrong one because he thought the sound it made was funny, so that was a little frustrating. The app would also regularly glitch. It would freeze in the middle of the game, play the sound for the next activity, but only show the background, and was generally glitchy. The app was installed on a "compatible device" so it was rather annoying.
