After reading other reviews indicating there were sample activities to try, I downloaded this knowing that most activities you would have to buy. I was eager to try figurative language and a couple of other sections to see if it would be worth purchasing. However, there was no way to try ANY game for free. ALL activities have the lock symbol indicating they are locked, and I was immediately prompted to pay $6.99 a month without having even tried a single activity. First of all, I loathe subscription model apps and would only consider a one-time purchase option for an app like this, and second of all I would never buy any app without being able to at least try a few of its activities to see if it was even worthwhile. This app ended up being completely useless space- off to delete this after review.

I’ve been using this app with a tutoring student and he really likes it, especially the math section. I have noticed a few issues with it. While playing the exponent section, it keeps telling him that he earned something new for his fish tank but we’ve never found the fish tank. During the root word section, he earns stickers but it never allows him to reposition the stickers. I’ve found the questions in the exponent section and root word section to be very repetitive. There needs to be a more extensive database of questions with more variety. On the Timed Facts section, the time given is quite short. I’ve not seen where to change that so I’d love to know if that’s possible. My student stated that he would like some sort of game on every section, if possible. With that being said, the price for the app is steep but I feel like I have certainly gotten my money’s worth from it. It has helped me motivate a very reluctant learner to work hard!

I have so much fun with this! There are so many different options! The only thing I would change about it is the fact that it needs a subscription to do more than two or three lessons but other than that this is perfect! It’s fun! It incourages me to use my brain! Teachers can build custom lessons! So if you found this and you are in 5th grade, have students in 5th grade, or have any friend or family member in 5th grade, then congrats! This app is for you! It’s nothing like the horrible IXL or the uneducational Prodigy, this is WAY better! -PS more schools need to know about this!
