    Version 5.5.0

I have been using Linearity for more than a year and appreciate that they offered it free while in beta testing; I am a retired grandmother making a quiet/activity book for my grandson. I am an amateur user and this was my first vector program. As I needed SVG files for cutting felt pieces on my Cricut machine, and I was drawing all items myself and not using purchasable objects, I found that this application worked nicely and allowed a first time user to learn the program fairly easily, thanks to the help files online and the various blogs. I will not say that I am an expert but I have learned so much about working with vectors while using this program and now understand the value of using vectors. I do miss the cut/paste actions as they once were but have learned to use the newer version. I cannot compare this application with other apps like it, but I can recommend it to an amateur like me that needs to learn a vector app from scratch as I did. Great product and great support.

    Version 5.5.0

    Spending

Linearity, the company that purchased Vectornator has a total disregard for the customer base that Vectornator built over years. First they kidnapped our files by attempting to migrate them to their own cloud environment and now they holding those files hostage by not allowing a .svg export on the files. Based on the latest email “You’ll be able to export your work only in JPEG, PNG, TIFF”. That will not work for vector files or my needs. Note: This email came out on the day that the change was to take place so there would be no chance to protect your files. Also the subscription rate is out of sync with what this app delivers. Is this the ransom to save your files? As a pure hobbyist, I could work around the initial 3 file limit, but not this new restriction. Not feeling comfortable with Linearity ’s initial file kidnapping attempt (that was a very large Migate your files button in the app in a position that you could easily hit by accident ), I did go through the effort of moving my files onto my own storage and also saving them in a format that I could use on other platforms. I’m so glad I did that because obviously this company cannot be trusted to keep their word. So why would I give them my money?

    Version 5.4.3

    Hate itLove itPricingSpending

I was looking for something to replace Illustrator as I'm pretty over the subscription model. I've been in the Adobe ecosystem like every other professional artist for decades. I love vector art and I was looking for something akin to Procreate but for vector. I tried Fresco (Adobe's latest "free" app that has minor vector capabilities) but wasn't as impressed with it after I started playing with the software, the vector stuff seemed like a tacked on afterthought. I was stoked to try Curve since its vector paths remain fully editable in the software (a feature lacking in Adobe Fresco). However neither the free version with its laughable 3 file limitation nor the paid version with its lack of key features are worth it. Why the heck would I pay $9.99/month (29% off the regular price!) for a vector app that does NOT have a blob paint tool? Also, why the heck can't I save locally? Also, why the heck is the brush editing interface so frustratingly terrible? Anyway, if you are in desperate need for an illustrator replacement, I'd suggest using the free version of this or Fresco. If you're looking for an affordable/ non subscription based application with an intuitive user interface and industry standard (basic) functionality... this ain't it. Curve isn't a terrible app, but the thought of paying $10/month for it is pretty absurd imo.
