I tried Duolingo which is insanely expensive and doesn't really give you much insight into the grammar, pronunciation, or characters of Chinese which is important to truly understanding the language and your Chinese being useful in China. So far, this program has given everything I would expect from a Chinese learning language app. If you want to learn a language seriously, study something that is specific to the language. This app is specifically designed for understanding Chinese!

I'm a convert from the owl app. HelloChinese is far superior. The speaker videos are awesome for variation, the exercises make you actually pay attention to my the whole sentence instead of the one keyword that is identified the phrase, the story reading really puts it all into practice, he hanzi pictogram instruction is super useful.

This is a great app! Only downside: I can't recommend it to other people with that Batman slapping graphic at the beginning. Phobic, violent, and in bad taste. The rest of the app so far is not at all like that. I appreciate the speaker videos, the stories, and the varied practice. Thanks for your hard work developing something good!
