NetworkPrivacyBugsSpendingLove itIt only took four phone calls and my two and a half hours to connect with two human helpers to get my Cafe range connected. That is not the good news. Sorry, that’s definitely not the good news. GE in its infinite wisdom has decided it’s better to keep using a very poorly written piece of software requiring even more human intervention to problem solve rather than hiring better knuckleheads to write software that works. Instead, GE believes the public are beta testers! Still not what I call GE Smart. GE thinks it’s better to employ folks to know how to get around the GE SmartHQ piece of garbage software. My 5 Stars are for GE only because having all those employees to do the work-arounds for a range that really shouldn’t require Wi-Fi in order to function but instead guarantees lifetime employment to humans to use appliances that shouldn’t need software at all. They get 5 folks get my 5 Stars and GE gets 5 Stars for hiring extra people who pay taxes that supports Social Security, road taxes, hospital, and employee health benefits. That’s a yeah for GE and our economy. Yup, 5 Stars for not being SmartHQ at all.

BugsHate itInaccurateLog InSpendingUpdatesWaitingI purchased a complete suite of GE Cafe appliances for the remodel of our kitchen. I have been trying for 4 days to register an account via this horrible excuse for an app!!!!! I can never get past the create a new password entry section as once the required password is entered (all required sections show green check mark) and the submit confirmation box is duly checked, the process shows the error “Something went wrong, please try again later” and I am returned to the country selection screen. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, restarted my phone and have tried everything to get out of this infinite circular logic loop. I am ready to return $23k in appliances over the frustration!!!!!! Update: I contacted their CS and spent an hour on the phone, trying everything, including reboot on the device and my router, and was asked if I had another email address I could use as the app sometimes just doesn’t like some email addresses. What? It’s the same email address I have had for over 15 years! I then tried my wife’s address and was able to register for an account. However, still couldn’t get all of the appliances to register. I’m now waiting for the engineer group to contact me ( it’s been 5 days) and if it is like the actions to date, I have little confidence that they will resolve anything. What a disaster.

BugsNetworkNotificationsThe app definitely has it’s good features. Remote control and notifications are great. However, there seems to be a undiscovered issue with connecting your appliances. So it appears if you are logged on to your GE account via the internet by browser, it will prevent you from connecting an appliance with the app. I was on the phone with tech support for over an hour. We went through the set up/connection features on the app several times. A help ticket was created to escalate the problem. I started reviewing everything afterwards. I thought maybe being logged in by browser and the app was a issue. Once I logged out of my GE account on the website I was able to access the smart cloud and connect my appliance. It appears the account was locked out to the app while I was logged in to my GE account on the website. The two would seem unrelated as you are not using the same interface and cannot control or connect to your appliances via the website. Maybe since it resolves by not using both IT can research this. It’s certainly something to consider.
