Day One is the journal app that reinvented journaling. Completely private, cross-platform, and designed to never fill up, Day One is designed to let you capture your life as you live it. Use Day One as a daily journal, personal diary, note taking app, travel log, or gratitude journal.

“Day One creates something so rare it feels almost sacred: A completely private digital space.” – New York Times

“Day One makes keeping a journal delightfully easy.” – Wired

“It’s perfect! Does what it says on the box. I was able to import my stuff from another (pricey) journal so that I didn’t lose those entries. It’s easy to add multiple entries to a day and to keep pictures. And it’s lockable, keeping private thoughts protected. I will happily use Day One for years.” – Day One user

Review edited: dropping my review to 4 stars as the notifications are so hit and miss. I've set a reminder daily but I've just gone 4 days without receiving one until this morning. Frustrating as the notification is there to help me remember to journal. Still a good app apart from this. Really enjoying using it so far. Seems very customisable for a free app which is nice. I like the templates as sometimes you want to journal but don't know where to start, this gives you options.

I just have the basic version which seems to satisfy my need for a daily journal of my impressions. I tried to use the location services but it comes up with the neighbor's address due to the inaccuracy of the map software. There seems to be no way to permanently correct this defect and no way to manually enter the location. When I remove location permissions, the app just asks me to turn it back on instead of letting me enter the location manually or give the app a permanent correction.

Excellent journaling app. I've used it several times a week for the last nine months. The Android app and web app sync pretty well. I also have it backed up to my Google Drive. My criticisms (all minor): 1. Weird glitch where empty lines before bulleted lists disappear 2. Weird formatting differences in paragraph spacing between Android and web apps 3. Difficult to embed YouTube videos in the web app (not Android) One star deducted for these oddities.
