WHAT IS THE KETO DIET?
The keto diet (also known as a ketogenic diet, low carb diet and LCHF diet) is a low carbohydrate, high-fat diet. Maintaining a low carb diet is great for weight loss. Moreover, according to an increasing number of studies, a low carb diet helps reduce risk factors for diabetes, heart diseases, stroke, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, and more!
WHY REDUCE CARBS?
We’re beginning to understand that carbs in large quantities are more harmful than previously thought, while most fats are healthy & essential (the basis of a low carb diet).
When you eat lots of carbs, your blood sugar is consistently elevated and, as a result, so is insulin. Insulin is a hormone that keeps your blood sugar in check by shuttling the glucose into cells, but when there’s a consistently high amount of insulin, your cells become resistant.
This insulin resistance makes it easier to store fat, and chronically high levels of insulin also cause excessive inflammation in the body, which contributes to heart disease, high blood pressure and eventually type 2 diabetes.
A keto diet can reverse these harmful effects & restores insulin sensitivity.
THE KETO DIET IS STARTING A NUTRITION REVOLUTION!
The nutritional landscape is changing. The keto diet (low carb diet) is growing in acceptance and a nutritional revolution is beginning. We are starting to realize the detrimental effects of our relationship with excess sugar & carbs.

Version 6.1
AdsAudioBugsHate itUser experience = 0. I downloaded the app and found it initially to be fairly easy to use, if somewhat buggy re. the barcode reader. At first the extent of the ads were more off-putting than I have experienced elsewhere, but then one came up that not only played loud obnoxious music but it also took over the screen and prevented me from using the app any further - or so it seemed. As I was writing this review the ad must have timed out and I could get to the app content once again. I’d almost deleted the app during the experience, and still likely will. I have no problem with most free apps that rely on ads to cover the cost, but there is a limit to my tolerance for them. The experience pretty much justifies for me the cost of another app rather than this one - ads or no ads.

DifficultHate itLove itUpdatesI used to love this app and have recently thought about upgrading and going premium. The prior version, I would have given this app a 5 star review. However, the recently pushed updates has made me think otherwise and that maybe I should look for a new app to use instead and delete this one completely! With these new updates, I would give it 0 stars because the new design is just AWFUL!! I hate that they removed the old view where you could see your fat, protein and carb percentages. With the new update it’s harder to track progress throughout the day and really know where you stand with your numbers. Please bring back the prior version OR at least provide users with the ability to switch back to the prior version view when using the app. Not happy with the new update at all!

Version 4.7
BugsSpendingWaitingThis app should be in beta, because it doesn't function properly. Too many bugs. Selecting foods to avoid is overly cumbersome. I can't just select "pork" I have to search and select every type of pork there is (bacon, ham, chorizo, etc.) by INGREDIENT. Then it takes several app restarts for it to remove the recipes that contain pork. And yet the shopping list STILL includes pork for another few restarts. This is such a basic feature that all nutrition related apps have. The meal plan PDF export feature does not export the shopping list, despite multiple attempts. The page is just empty. Also, the shopping list experience itself is clunky. You cannot set number of portions to shop for, it's just whatever the recipe defaults to. The same ingredient in different recipes does not combine, so there are duplicates (e.g., two separate listings for chicken breasts). And then you cross off something it stays in view, in the way. Mediocre user experience. And based on the support responses I got, I'm not willing to pay past the free trial to wait for them to fix these issues. There are already way better apps out there.
